This has been going on for at least a few years now - before multi-core processors. I tried to look up the thread , but it may be gone with the new DUC interface.

I will try it with the error suppression mode, but it is intermittent chez moi. Let's at least ask; "Has anyone had this problem with the error suppression checked?"

I like the dialog, though. Folks are trying to figure it out.

I do not use error suppression..

I changed my playback buffer to 1024 last night and that seemed to help.. (thanks again Shan).

Peace!

This problem got significantly worse for me when I upgraded to PT8 about three weeks ago. The most effective change I've made is to move the firewire card to slot 2. My computer engineer chum told me FW doesn't like slots 1 or 3. I don't know if my system specs will show so for digisupport I;m on an Abit P35i express board. Hope this helps as I know how frustrating this one gets. ps I'm getting 128 Dverbs at 64 buffer with this

It happened for me on my old rig no matter the buffer setting, error suppression on or off.

I only started getting this with PT8 as well. I've never checked the ignore RTAS errors or whatever it is.

I'm just trying to help, but here's something interesting that I've noticed:

Right when I open a fresh session 24/48 .... 64 samples - I start up Boom and the Mini-grand ....I begin to record and right off the bat it goes into pause mode....after forwarding and rewinding on the transport...I can get it to record...... so maybe 8 out of 10 times it pauses.....no big deal, then I do the same and record a piano ... mabye 6 out of 10 times goes into pause, now that I've layed down some basic midi....i occasionally hit the forward and rewind on the transport, the problem starts to diminish.

YES - the bigger my session get's, the more stable things run....the same session now has 8 instrument tracks all VI's - Battery VST with three outs, Boom, Xpand, even imported some loops, Hybrid... 10 out of 10 times I can hit record or play with no problem now.....

I can close and open it up and the session is solid..done this about five times now.

I'm also running an ASUS board and dual Nvidia cards... make sure your hardware acceleration is turned off.

Could be unique to me, but try to muscle through a session and see if things stabalize.

Another interesting note... or maybe not.

I opened up a thing I was working on last night and almost everything looked the same.. Tr1 - click, Tr2 - violin, Tr3 - oboe, Tr4 - bass, Tr5 - drums... all midi. The exception was that Tr3 track color looked a bit darker.

When I went to play, the Tr3 midi notes were being played by the Tr4 instrument. I checked all of the settings, track enabling, I/O, correct instrument being loaded for that track, etc... and found nothing amiss.

I closed out and loaded a backup of the song. Same thing. I created a new project and imported Tr3 only... Nothing would happen when you played it.. I assigned a different instrument to it and same result..

Finally I created a new track, assigned an instrument to it and copied the midi notes down.. and it worked perfectly.

I deleted that session, returned to the original, performed the same "remedy" and deleted the old track.

I dunno... I'm going back to 7.4 tonight to see what happens after a few hours in it. I've never had issues like this before, so I want to rule out the computer, the 003, the cabling, etc.. One problem may be that I am using M-Audio's Drum and Bass Rig.. not on the accetable plug-in list...

Peace!

Have you guys tried setting the Open Ended Record Allocation to a fixed amount, maybe 30 or less? (In the preferences - I think it's under Operations)

How about the Low Latency Monitoring option? Any difference on or off?

Thumbs down Re: Play/Pause issue driving me nuts...

Hi,
I'd like to add myself as a user also having this problem now - more than is workable. More frequently now since I've started using more VIs I guess.

Haven't had time to perform any structured tests to pin down when it happens/not happens yet.

( Seems to happen more often when looping regions or when starting at a bar, if I start little before it works a little better - a feeling for now. )

Mine is set somewhere in the vicinity of 6... I'm not using LLM at this time..

I started having issues with my plugin 'favorites' tonight, so I am in the process of starting everything over again. Plain-Jane install, then add one plugin at a time and look for a smoking gun...

Peace!
