I did a reformat and clean install of OS X Mountain Lion. Still doesn't work! I don't know what else to do.

I also did the same, to no avail. Had to use Logic instead.

Strange thing is that Drew Mazurek (on this forum) can get it to work with his 2008 Mac Pro (exactly the same as one of my machines).

It works now!

I upgraded to 32 GB RAM today (Crucial - used their system scanner to select the correct RAM for my system.) I also installed the latest EuControl software and hooked up an Avid Artist Mix and Transport. I just tried to open a session now with PT 11 HD and the video engine loaded this time. It took about 10-15 seconds.

I'm assuming the RAM upgrade fixed it?

If you're having the same problem, try installing the maximum amount of RAM your system can handle, using the Crucial system scanner to select the type.

I already had 32 GB ram, so I think a software change has made it work for you.

Or maybe it has something to do with me using an ethernet switch to hook up the control surfaces. According to Avid tech support, it's a network issue and not a RAM issue, so this is possible.

I had the same problem. I simply uninstalled Pro Tools 11 and then reinstalled it. It may have been because the first time I installed I only installed the drivers after or it could be because I tried to open a project that already had a video in it. After the reinstall I opened a blank post-production session and activated the video engine in the setup/playback engine menu and then closed the session and opened my preexisting video edit sessions and they worked.

I have the same problem with Pro Tools 11 HD on our Macbook Pro. Did you do a safe uninstall or a clean uninstall before reinstalling Pro Tools 11?

I tried both ways... the problem persists. The "Waiting for the Video Engine to launch..." bar goes to the end and then sits. Any other ideas?
