Default Global MIDI Offset strange behavior

I'm having a hard time trying to sync MIDI and audio with the Global MIDI Offset feature. It's not working like it should. The funny thing is that after extensive testing we found out that if we set the offset (-256) on individual tracks every thing works fine but if we use the Global MIDI Offset (with the exact same amount of -256) the audio and MIDI doesn't sync up. The problem with this is that every time that I create a new song (from a template) I have to dial the offset on every MIDI track and it's such a work flow killer. I'd be great if I could just dial the amount on the Global MIDI Offset preferences and leave it always like that but sadly it's not working that way. Anybody knows what's up? Why is the Global MIDI Offset not working the same as the Individual Track Offset?
