Sonnet 1 Gig Upgrade or G4 933
I need to upgrade my g4/400 (sawtooth).I'm wondering what the best option would be?A friend of mine is willing to sell me his g4/933 for $1200.Is the 933 worth the extra $500?

Re: Sonnet 1 Gig Upgrade or G4 933
Besides cpu speed you should also factor in the 933's Super Drive,(useful for backing up audio), and the 64 mb graphics card for speedier redraws and scrolling.

Re: Sonnet 1 Gig Upgrade or G4 933
I think the 933Mhz model would be a better option, the 4 x AGP instead of 2 x AGP on the Sawtooth G4 should increase screen redraws with the graphics card and the 133Mhz system bus pushes over 260Mb/s more data from RAM to the cpu.
It's also got that superdrive and faster PCI slots than the Sawtooth, no built-in audio input is the only negative thing I can think of about getting the 933Mhz G4 over an upgrade for you're current model. |
