Default book narrator PT newbie: how to select tracks

Hi. I'm trying to do some mastering. I've got a session with 24 tracks of narration. When I select all the tracks to do various processes, like consolidate or EQ, after it renders, the size of each track has expanded to the largest of the tracks. How do I get them to not do that? thanks

You've selected an area the size of the longest track and, when you consolidate, the consolidated area on each track will be the length of the area selected.

This works in PT11 :
Grabber Tool to Object, object select all clips,
for consolidating, do not use the Alt Shift 3 command but Audiosuite Gain, neutral setting 0dB,
setting of the Audiosuite Gain (or any other Audiosuite (Eq, ...) : "create individual files",
the clips will remain at their original individual length.

Why are the clips not in a row on a single track ? In that case, object-selecting is not necessary, just the "create individual files"-setting.
