Default Digi 002 issues with PT 10.3

Hi,

I was recently running the latest version of Mac OSX 10.7.whatever and PT 10.0. I updated my Mac OSX to 10.8.2 and my PT to 10.3. My Digi 002 worked fine before I updated and now I cant get the thing to work. The Mac and Pro Tools recognize it in the hardware settings but in PT it say that it has 0 ins and 0 outs. I've tried all the troubleshooting things I could think of. Anyone have any ideas? Sorry if this was answered somewhere else. I looked around but i couldn't find anything related to this issue.

-Eddie

There are no Digi 002 drivers included for PT9 and PT10 so you have to install them afterwards if you want, lets say, midi functionality... You find them in the download page.

The Digi 002 was working when I was running PT 10.0 and OSX 10.7. Everything was running great. I upgraded to PT 10.3 and OSX 10.8.2 and now the Digi 002 isn't working at all. Its not being recognized as an audio source and the faders aren't working either. I didn't know if anyone else ran into this issue.

My 002 is fine in 10.8 and 10.3
Either your 002 actually has something wrong with it like the very well-known power supply issue (contacts need cleaning from getting oxidized) or you don't have the latest 002 driver installed.

i am having similar issues....

running a brand new mac book pro with pt 10.3 and a 002. OSX 10.8
installed fine, downloaded the drivers. got it to recognize my 002. good.

opened a session but now every time i push play....i get the "operating system held off interrupt...." 6093 and sometimes "lost communication with hardware....." 6097 error messages. says to increase the hardware buffer size for both errors, but that does nothing. setting the processors up or down doesn't either.

sorry if this is an obvious fix, searched the topic a few times but all the things i have read and tried haven't done anything. i don't have any plug ins on the sesh so its not an issue there. any help or ideas are appreciated. thanks.

hmm... I didn't know Avid had already qualified 10.8.2 with 10.3 either way I will stay away from the upgrade, thanks for posting.

I had to reinstall the driver for my 002r after upgrading to 10.3. Had to do the whole setup thing with it (setup defaults again)but it works no problem with the latest OS X and 10.3. Although the 002r has served me well...after my current project, I am upgrading to something else.

hmmm....i did reinstall the driver after putting pt10.3 on here. maybe take the driver out and reinstall again? (didn't relize till after some research that the drivers for 9 and up are separate) talked to sweetwater support today, guy said he thought it was my external fw drive i had thru the 002 (since i only have one fw port on the laptop, which is taken by the 400 to 800 connection)
he thought it was because teh drive is older and possibly not 7200 rpm.

i put a shesh on my desktop and tried to run it from there, completely by passing the external, not plugged in. nothing. still giving me the same error.

The RPM of the drive wouldn't make a difference... If it worked before you updated it's not a hardware issue.

If you do suspect the drive and have a previously known good FW 400 to 800 cable, you can always bypass the drive to make sure Pro Tools sees the device (In your case the 002).

Anyway, the process that I follow to setup a 002/003 in newer versions of Pro Tools is:

Launch Pro Tools, click on "Setup", then "Playback Engine". The first drop down menu you have should allow you to select the 002. Among the possible choices are on my machine: Air Play, Built In Microphone, Builtin Input, Builtin Output, Pro Tools Aggregate I/O, and the Digi 002.

If the 002 isn't selected, pro tools won't appear to 'see' it.

Hopefully you will see the 002 at this point and you can select it and save your configuration changes....

After that... assuming you were able to find your interface....

you won't be out of the woods yet as you won't be able to play or record through the device...

Next, go to "Setup" then "I/O Setup". You will have to setup your default inputs and outputs again. I know... what a PITA.

At the top of the window "I/O Setup", you will see the following buttons:

Input, Output, Bus, Insert, Mic Preamps, H/W Insert Delay

Under the buttons Input and output, you must add the defaults back for the Digi002. This can be accomplished by simply clicking the button "Default" on the left side of the window roughly 3/4 of the way down.

I usually wipe out the settings on these before I re-add the defaults.

At this point if your setup is like mine, you should be able to play and record audio through your 002. Mine is rock solid, stable, with predicable performance.

FYI: I have an early 2011 macbook pro with the i7 btw.

I hope this helps.
