Please Help: can't open OMF files in Pro Tools 11

Any suggestions on what to try?

What version of 11? The first release was useless for reading OMFs. With the latest version, if 11 can't open it then 10 can't either in my experience. In those cases, I open and re-export them in Adobe Audition.

Will it work with Import Session Data? That's how I get AAF files imported.

No, same problem with Import Session Data.

I used the latest PT Prefs to delete everything, but it didn't work. I also repaired permissions on my mac using disk utility, and also repaired the audio drive. I am on the latest Pro Tools 11.2 HD. Same issue still no matter what I try. I asked the editor to re-export the OMF's, she did that but this didn't make a difference. Any ideas?

Seriously - Adobe Audition. If you don't own it, I think there's a free trial. I have always been able to open problem OMFs in Audition and then export as an OMF that Pro Tools can read.

Thanks. I WAS able to open by importing into Logic X, exporting as AAF and importing that in PT. Problem is, I am having issues with many of the audio files being out of sync. I will look into Adobe Audition.

I got an OMF exported from Premiere (latest version) the other day that wouldn't import properly into 11.2 but would (with two warnings) import at least 99% correctly into 10.3.9 so 11 is still not as good with OMFs as 10 was.

Good to know. I tried PT 10 a few times with no luck, so my default became Audition. I just assumed that 11 was as good as 10.

I have been opening many OMF with 10 - but my first 10 as a HD as the assertion failure,,


i tried latest version of 11 in mavericks, also failed,

I tried on my neighbours PT9 system... also failed


the file opens in DP7 but lots and lots of out of sync an repeated files ( actually thats common in DP - actually I thats how I got sucked into protools - becos I was using it to "reconform" OMF for DP...



the best software ever was fairlight's AV transfer -= but its PC only and quite pricey!

sadly i no longer have access to it!
