BSOD with Pro Tools 8.0.* on W7-64bit
I'm switching over to using Pro Tools LE with an ElevenRack - I'm on Windows 7, 64-bit. Although it worked a few times - and generally when I open PT, it works, it keeps causing my computer to blue screen when I close PT or try to open a file.
It's never the same error twice - it's been messages like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, and that driver warning screen too. When it crashes:I turn on the ElevenRack and let it boot (now on firmware 1.0.3). I then start PT (now on 8.0.4CS2 - the crashes happened with all versions of firmware and software). When PT is loaded, I can create a project, record, save, etc. It crashes either when I try to close PT, almost immediately, I will get a blue screen. Upon reboot, if I restart PT - that is fine. If I try to re-open any project file I already created, it almost always blue screens there too. So as of now, I can only create new projects - I can't edit them or close PT without blue screening. I am on a newer model Dell with Core2 Quad-core and 8GB of RAM. This has been an extremely bumpy and frustrating transition to this "better" software - can anyone help with this particularly, aggrevating problem?? Below is my output from that "Sandra" utility: ---------------------------------------------------------- SiSoftware Sandra Computer Model : Dell Studio 540 Processor Model : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz Speed : 2.4GHz Cores per Processor : 4 Unit(s) Threads per Core : 1 Unit(s) Type : Quad-Core Integrated Data Cache : 4x 32kB, Synchronous, Write-Thru, 8-way, 64 byte line size L2 On-board Cache : 2x 4MB, ECC, Synchronous, ATC, 16-way, 64 byte line size, 2 threads sharing Computer Mainboard : Dell 0M017G BIOS : Dell 1.1.3 08/25/2009 Bus(es) : ISA X-Bus PCI PCIe IMB USB FireWire/1394 i2c/SMBus Multi-Processor (MP) Support : No Multi-Processor Advanced PIC (APIC) : Yes Total Memory : 8GB DIMM DDR2 Chipset Model : Dell P45/P43/G45/G43 DRAM Controller Front Side Bus Speed : 4x 267MHz (1GHz) Total Memory : 8GB DIMM DDR2 Channels : 2 Memory Bus Speed : 2x 401MHz (802MHz) Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Qimonda 64T256020EU25C2 2GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400U DDR2-800 (5-6-6-18 3-24-6-3) Memory Module : Qimonda 64T256020EU25C2 2GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400U DDR2-800 (5-6-6-18 3-24-6-3) Memory Module : Qimonda 64T256020EU25C2 2GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400U DDR2-800 (5-6-6-18 3-24-6-3) Memory Module : Qimonda 64T256020EU25C2 2GB DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400U DDR2-800 (5-6-6-18 3-24-6-3) Video System Video Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series (40 SM4.1 600MHz, 256MB DDR2 2x500MHz, PCIe 2.00 x16) Video Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series (40 SM4.1 600MHz, 256MB DDR2 2x500MHz, PCIe 2.00 x16) Video Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series (40 SM4.1 600MHz, 256MB DDR2 2x500MHz, PCIe 2.00 x16) Video Adapter : ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series (40 SM4.1 600MHz, 256MB DDR2 2x500MHz, PCIe 2.00 x16) Graphics Processor STREAM Processor : ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series (40SP 2C 600MHz, 256MB 2x500MHz) Storage Devices SAMSUNG HD642JJ (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, NCQ, 16MB Cache) : 596GB (C:) Generic-Compact Flash (USB) : N/A (F:) Generic-SM/xD-Picture (USB) : N/A (G:) Generic-SD/MMC (USB) : N/A (H:) Generic-MS/MS-Pro (USB) : N/A (I:) SEAGATE ST3500830A (500.1GB, USB/ATA, 3.5") : 466GB (K:) TSSTcorpDVD-ROM TS-H353B (SATA150, DVD+-R, CD-R, 198kB Cache) : N/A (D:) TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW TS-H653F (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : N/A (E:) ELBY CLONEDRIVE (SCSI, SCSI-2, BD-R, HD-DVD-R, DVD-R, CD-R, 256kB Cache) : N/A (J:) Logical Storage Devices System Reserved : 100MB (NTFS) USB500 (K:) : 466GB (NTFS) @ SEAGATE ST3500830A (500.1GB, USB/ATA, 3.5") LocalDisk (C:) : 596GB (NTFS) @ SAMSUNG HD642JJ (640.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, NCQ, 16MB Cache) Removable Drive (F:) : N/A @ Generic-Compact Flash (USB) Removable Drive (G:) : N/A @ Generic-SM/xD-Picture (USB) Removable Drive (H:) : N/A @ Generic-SD/MMC (USB) Removable Drive (I:) : N/A @ Generic-MS/MS-Pro (USB) Optical Drive (D:) : N/A @ TSSTcorpDVD-ROM TS-H353B (SATA150, DVD+-R, CD-R, 198kB Cache) Optical Drive (E:) : N/A @ TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW TS-H653F (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Optical Drive (J:) : N/A @ ELBY CLONEDRIVE (SCSI, SCSI-2, BD-R, HD-DVD-R, DVD-R, CD-R, 256kB Cache) Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : Dell LPC Interface Controller LPC Legacy Controller 1 : Asus F8000 Audio Device : Dell HD Audio Controller Audio Codec : Realtek Semiconductor 888 High Definition Audio Audio Device : Dell RV620 Audio device [Radeon HD 34xx Series] Disk Controller : Dell 4 port SATA IDE Controller Disk Controller : Dell 2 port SATA IDE Controller USB Controller 1 : Dell USB UHCI Controller #4 USB Controller 2 : Dell USB UHCI Controller #5 USB Controller 3 : Dell USB UHCI Controller #6 USB Controller 4 : Dell USB EHCI Controller #2 USB Controller 5 : Dell USB UHCI Controller #1 USB Controller 6 : Dell USB UHCI Controller #2 USB Controller 7 : Dell USB UHCI Controller #3 USB Controller 8 : Dell USB EHCI Controller #1 FireWire/1394 Controller 1 : 10256 IEEE 1394 Host Controller SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : Intel 801xx/63xx SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Send To Microsoft OneNote 2010 Driver (1200x1200, Colour) Printer : Amyuni Document Converter 400 (2400x2400, Parallel, Colour) Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Printer : Lexmark S600 Series (4800x4800, Colour, Full Duplex) Printer : KONICA MINOLTA magicolor 2430DL (2400x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) |

Re: BSOD with Pro Tools 8.0.* on W7-64bit
What drive are you recording to? IN any case, first thing to do is update the PACE Interlok drivers(do it from Device Manager). Next, what non-DIGI/Avid plugins do you have? Try dragging them out of the plugins folder(just drop them on the desktop for testing) and see if that helps. Or, hold the SHIFT key down while you open a session. That will open it with all plugins made inactive(so a bad/corrupt/outdated plugin won't crash the rig).

Re: BSOD with Pro Tools 8.0.* on W7-64bit
Sounds like bad memory too me actually. Memory errors can cause erratic behavior and random blue screens.
Try inserting only 1 stick of ram. Try them all. If you find that inserting only 1 makes your computer stable, you know its your memory. Good luck, Nick

Re: BSOD with Pro Tools 8.0.* on W7-64bit
Things I would do.
Update to the latest interface driver. Update your PACE driver. Run Memtest86+ to check your memory

Thanks for all the replies guys. I wanted to anyhow, so I finally just switched my setup over to my laptop (somewhat high-end) with an external firewire drive. No more blue screens. thanks again!
