Default BSOD with Pro Tools 8.0.* on W7-64bit

I'm switching over to using Pro Tools LE with an ElevenRack - I'm on Windows 7, 64-bit. Although it worked a few times - and generally when I open PT, it works, it keeps causing my computer to blue screen when I close PT or try to open a file.

It's never the same error twice - it's been messages like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, and that driver warning screen too.

When it crashes:I turn on the ElevenRack and let it boot (now on firmware 1.0.3). I then start PT (now on 8.0.4CS2 - the crashes happened with all versions of firmware and software). When PT is loaded, I can create a project, record, save, etc.

It crashes either when I try to close PT, almost immediately, I will get a blue screen. Upon reboot, if I restart PT - that is fine. If I try to re-open any project file I already created, it almost always blue screens there too.

So as of now, I can only create new projects - I can't edit them or close PT without blue screening. I am on a newer model Dell with Core2 Quad-core and 8GB of RAM. This has been an extremely bumpy and frustrating transition to this "better" software - can anyone help with this particularly, aggrevating problem??

Below is my output from that "Sandra" utility:

What drive are you recording to? IN any case, first thing to do is update the PACE Interlok drivers(do it from Device Manager). Next, what non-DIGI/Avid plugins do you have? Try dragging them out of the plugins folder(just drop them on the desktop for testing) and see if that helps. Or, hold the SHIFT key down while you open a session. That will open it with all plugins made inactive(so a bad/corrupt/outdated plugin won't crash the rig).

Sounds like bad memory too me actually. Memory errors can cause erratic behavior and random blue screens.

Try inserting only 1 stick of ram. Try them all. If you find that inserting only 1 makes your computer stable, you know its your memory.

Good luck,

Nick

Things I would do.

Update to the latest interface driver.
Update your PACE driver.
Run Memtest86+ to check your memory

Thanks for all the replies guys. I wanted to anyhow, so I finally just switched my setup over to my laptop (somewhat high-end) with an external firewire drive. No more blue screens. thanks again!
