ungrouping tracks won't work

Im trying to ungroup some tracks so I click on the group from the mixer and the group bin but when I click remove it tells me I haven't chosen a sound to add to the group??? I have been trying to figure this out for over an hour. Please explain how to ungroup as the you tubes I have watched are not doing it.
