HELLO, when recording in a home studio the use of amplifiers is in most cases out of the question, so does anyone know the best way to simulate guitar distorsion without the use of amplifiers?

Amplitube 2 is by far the most "true" sounding that I've tried. It's quite heavy on the CPU though.
