New S6 M10 - Stored for 4 years in Customs - Weird behavior

I bought a S6M10 that was stored for 4 years in Brazilian Customs Storage. I unpacked everything and assembled using manual.

that part was pretty easy and with a lot of fun, when everything was in place I turned on Master Module to start setup procedure. Nothing happened, a big Avid logo and a loud fan noise. Well, i guess that some customs official messed a little bit with the console, so, let´s do a system restore.

Thumb drive in place, USB Boots with windows logo, and manual tells me that I need to chose option "2" and "Yes". The whole proccess will need SEVERAL minutes to complete. After a few seconds, screen shows that proccess is done, just need to remove drive and reboot. And that is what I did, but no success, big logo and after while a prompt screen with some yellow stuff, a Shell prompt and nothing more...

Well, maybe a should flash BIOS first (option 1), but when I tried to boot from USB again, nothing happened. I ejected USB and plugged in a windows computer, USB was blank and Windows tells me that I need to format USB... ok, thats weird... maybe I did something wrong...

I downloaded ISO from my avid account and after an exhausting process of creating a bootable usb (just because it is a veeeeeery slooooooow proccess, not a big deal to create a bootable drive) I started the proccess again choosing option 1.

When system told me that it was completed, I restarted everything and tried to boot from USB to start option 2 proccess, nothing happened again.... well well well... i guess some wrong stuff is going on here... I unplugged USB drive and plugged again on a Windows computer, USB was blank again!

I started to dig trying to find a solution, but without luck, I noticed some weird behavior on BIOS setup, wrong characters appearing on HDD name (Sandisk SSD 64GB), sometimes HDD appears on SATA devices, sometimes it shows "not installed"... I thought that it could be a HDD problem, so I tried a bootable USB drive with some diagnostics tools, and it tells me that HDD is fine... I am guessing that BIOS settings is wrong or maybe motherboard is broken....


I dont know what could I do. I contacted Avid guy (Eduardo Andrade) here in brasil to find some solution or if this is a case to change Master Module...

Is there something that I could do from here? This diagnostic USB that I burned boots fine and I could do some procedures.

We've seen that issue before which is usually an SSD drive failure. Please email myself and Eduardo and we will get it sorted out.

This may be a problem with the SSD drive. Unfortunately, this is not an easy fix as to get to it would damage the heatsink seal (and that's not a standard connection that a user can do in the field)

If you have a support contract then call up Avid and swap out the Master Module. If you don't, you are going to need one anyway as the software is years out of date. You need a MTM M10 hardware support contract. Speak to Eduardo and say you spoke to Eddie.
