Default new thin late 2012 iMacs. are they noisy at all?

I'm in a HUGE debate about whether to buy the 15 inch retina macbook pro or a 27 inch iMac for use with PT 10.

One of my questions is, since it will be right in front of my face, does anyone have any real experience with (NOT assumptions) the new late 2012 thin iMac 27 and can say whether or not it is noisy?

I am considering getting the 3 TB fusion drive, and while I'm used to just a quiet 24 inch screen in front of my face, I would not want to get the iMac home and realize that it's got an annoying operational fan/hard drive noise when right in front of my face all day after spending that kind of money.

Thanks for any experience you can share!

(also curious if anyone knows if the newest mac minis have any fan noise as well. thanks)

I have a month old Mac Mini - awesome machine and I added 16-gigs (OWC - $114.00) - quiet as a mouse too. I use a 24" Samsung HD Monitor with it and Pro Tools flies.

If you do go the Macbook route, are you honestly married to the idea of retina display? It really doesn't add much considering the difference in price, and if cost is a consideration you have, you can upgrade a lot further for the money from a regular display 15".

Heavily leaning towards iMac 27 inch now. Way more bang for the buck.

Anyone have this exactly model (newest thin ones from late 2012) and know if they are quiet? It will be very bad if it ends up loud and in my face.
