Making the switch..but should I wait?

I am purchasing a new macbook(when they come out in the next couple of weeks), and ordering a brand new mbox 2. Probably going to sell cubase 4 and old presonus sound card(haven't been very happy with sound quality or lack of steinberg support"which is getting a little better"). So anyways, my question is..If I order my mbox 2 now to use with my pc for some time, will I be elgible for the protools 8 upgrade? Or, should I wait a little longer and purchase mbox 2 after the update is released? I would really like to purchase now, because I wanted to start learning pro tools asap..to be ready to track as soon as I can. Any info would be great!

~p.s.this is my first post, so if this is the wrong area to post a question like this..please be forgiving(the cubase forum was usually a bit hostile from time to time, so I am little jumpy)

I believe you have 90 day window from the purchase of new hardware to till 8.0 officailly drops to receive a free upgrade. Scuttlebut says it will drop in november or before the end of the year. You should be fine.

I'm beginning to think I need a new Mbox2 Mini myself.

also..If I install pro tools software on my pc and register it, then get my mac later, are there any restrictions to installing it another pc(mac)? Or, can I install it on whatever..as long as I am connected with the mbox 2?

You can install t on as many computers as you use the MBox on. The Mbox2 is your dongle.
