Default Avid Virtual Instruments 10.0 or AIR Creative Collection 11.0?

I just upgraded to Pro Tools 11 (Windows) and I want to install the virtual instruments. My account shows that both Avid Virtual Instruments 10.0 and AIR Creative Collection 11.0 are available for download. Do I need both, or just one (if so, which one)? Thanks!

If you're using PT11 only, just install the AIR Creative Collection. If you're using PT10 & PT11, you need to install both.

I had an issue with this last week when some of the AIR Virtual Instruments disappeared from PT10 for some reason. When I went to reinstall the Avid Virtual Instruments, it wouldn't install it and I got a message saying that a more recent version was already installed - which I assume was for 11. So I had to uninstall both packages, reinstall Avid Virtual Instruments 10.0, then reinstall AIR Creative Collection 11.0 to get all the plugins working for PT10 and PT11.

Thanks Chris! That was my guess, but I wanted to make sure. Best, Mark

I am upgrading from PT 8.5 (Mbox 2)to PT 10.3.9 (mac os10.8.5).
it came bundled with PT11 but I only plan on using PT10…
So do I still need to download both the [AIR Creative Collection 11.0 Installer for PT 11.0-11.0.3] and [Avid Virtual Instruments 10.3 Installer for Pro Tools 10.x]

*I am not installing PT11, only 10.3.9

would also like some advice as to weather or not I should UN-install PT8 before installing PT10. Thanks for taking the time

You're going to need to uninstall your old PT8 install. You only need to download and install the PT10 instruments collection if you're not going to use PT11 at all. Any particular reason you're not going to use PT11?

Any idea what happens if you install both before I realized they were redundant? PT 2019.12 here.
