At this point, the only reason to buy the HD Native card/Thunderbolt is if you need to record more than 32 inputs at the same time. And the HDX system gets you into the game for recording more than 64 inputs at the same time (Yes, I know you need 2 HDX cards to do it, but you have to have the first one anyway).

Otherwise, just buy the HD software.

Where are you seeing HDX core + software for $4k?

If Avid is investing in, and selling a new TB 3 chassis for HDX, can we assume the firmware update to get (ALL) HDX cards to 384 voices (like HDN) is near?

With great native AAX plugins, I don't see the value of HDX over HDN. except for tracking or monstrous dub stage mixes...

It's interesting that Apple boasted about loading multiple 8 year old HDX cards into the new MP......what a bunch of BS. Avid knew Apple was working on a MP with slots years ago and look what Avid produced.......Nothing

We can assume, yes, as the HDX voice upgrade was rumored year ago. However as Avid has been silent about it we can also pretty safely assume next time they open their mouth is when they actually release it

Yep if they don’t sell now why would Avid put the R&D money into them ?

Just ride it to death

An accurate firmware with path/upgrade for HDX models that can't accept it.

Curious way of thinking.. One of the last year's biggest rumors was HDX voice upgrade that postponed 2019.1 to 2019.3 until it was released as 2019.5 and the work on HDX upgrade is ongoing...
