Default Pro Tools 10 MIDI Import

I have an old Boss DR-5 Drum Machine and I would like to finally get rid of it so I need to in essence "record" all of the songs on it. I would prefer to use MIDI for this instead of recording the actually stereo outputs. I am able to dump the sysex data however that can only be played back be reloading on to the DR-5 itself.

So in Pro Tools, I need to have 2 things happen:

1. Hitting play on the DR-5 starts the recorder in Pro Tools
2. The DR-5 uses MIDI channels 1,2,3 and 10 so I would like to have Pro Tools record all 4 MIDI channels simultaneously on 4 separate MIDI tracks.

Is this possible?

Thanks

To record the MIDI output of the DR5 you're going to need a MIDI interface for the computer you have PT on. Remember that MIDI is just digital data and not audio so unless you have sounds in a drum library that you use in PT you're out of luck.

Yes, I already have all that set up, I just need to know if PT can perform the 2 items I listed above and how that might be setup.

Thanks

So now I ran into a different problem. I am bouncing my midi to audio tracks and I'm using Xpand2, however no matter How I set up my routing I can't get it to split the tracks during the bouncing process. I have to use a new instantiation of Xpand2 for each track. While that works this not the most efficient way. Superior drummer can do this, so maybe it's a limit on the plug-in. Any ideas? Thanks

Xpand2 doesn't have multiple outputs. I just duplicate the entire instrument track as many times as needed, turn off the parts not needed on each instance and then print to separate audio tracks. I do the same thing with Boom sometimes.
