Default DVerb dilemma

Hi All,

I recently upgraded from PT 6.4 to 10.

Previously, I used DVerb fairly regularly, as my "easy" verb.

In PT 10, the DVerb doesn't work properly. Many of the controls on the interface just don't work, like gain, pre-delay, etc.. When I attempt to activate them, they are simply frozen, with no way to control the plug. This makes the plug pretty much useless.

Any ideas as to a solution?

Any help will be extremely appreciated!

Hi,

Sounds like you have some old plugins in your plugins folder. You need to go through your plugins folder and remove all out of date and incompatible plugins.

Did you upgrade all your plugins when you upgraded from 6.4 to 10 in fact did you do a fresh install when you moved to 10?

Thank you Chris,

I'll look into that. It was a clean install of Windows 7, but... The drive it sits on is adjacent to a drive with a previous version of PT. Could that old install on the adjacent drive be interfering?

Hi,

Can't see how that would interfere! I've never seen an issue like this with Dverb and if this is a complete fresh install then its quite bizarre.

Just run the installer again and see if that fixes it.

Are all other plugins working ok?

Annoyingly they added a chorus to the Dverb hall algorithm since v6.4, so now long tails appear to pitch bend in a spooky (and inappropriate) way.

As for your non-functional controls, we found that too after a recent update. Only on the DSP version of the plug tho. Native works as expected.

Hmmm...

When you suggest running the installer, do you mean the full PT installer, or is there a DVerb installer, like back in the good old days? I didn't see a DVerb installer.

Thanks for the thoughts!

I've had the same problem. Avid/Digidesign changed some of the algorithms in D-Verb starting with Pro Tools 8 LE.

Luckily, they provided a link to the previous version:

h**p://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/en357387

At the bottom of the page, there is a Windows and Mac version available for download.

Hope this helps you too!

rainiere -- Just want to say THANK YOU for that link!

To everyone else with D-Verb pitch bending probs: Want to report rainiere's link ^^ also works in Pro Tools 9 LE on Windows 7, even though it only says it's compatible thru WIndows Vista/XP and Pro Tools 8.
