Default Low Volume on Channels 3 & 4?

Hello

I'm using the M-Box Pro (Version 8) and when using channels 3 & 4 to record with I am finding that the the volume is super low. Channels 1 & 2 are fine.

Is there a setting somewhere that will remedy this?

Thanks.

d.

What are you plugging into 3 & 4?

And there is no "version 8" of the Mbox Pro. You mean you are using Pro Tools 8? There are Mbox 2 Pro and Mbox 3 Pro (the current shipping model). Find a photo of exactly you have online and link to it here.

What happens when swap the input plugs in 1 & 2 to 3 & 4?

As Bill asked, describe exactly what you are connecting to each input, what exact model microphone, what type of ends on each cable, going into exactly what connector on the Mbox. If you are connecting a guitar or bass to the DI inputs does it have passive or active pickups (what exact models etc).

At the moment I'm plugging in a Roland TD11 Drum module into the inputs of channels 3 & 4 on the back of the M-Box Pro (v3).

I am getting a signal but it is super low.

Thanks

Default Low Volume on Channels 3 & 4?

And all the other questions... what are all the other inputs? What exact cables/connectors are you using? What happens when you swap 1&2 and 3&4.

Basic 1/4 cables.
Channels 1 & 2, using the same cables are fine.

Seems kinda goofy.

Thanks for replying.

I'm not familiar with the Mbox, but I'm picking channels 1&2 have built in Pre-amps and 3&4 are line level....no?

What level does the signal from the Roland come out at...whatever the level, it needs to be matched to the input of the Mbox.

Again I'm trying to understand exactly, competently unambiguously, what inputs you are going into.

So you are goign into the 1/4" TRS 3&4 "Line Inputs" inputs on the back panel and you switch that to the 1/4" TRS 1&2 "Line Inputs" and it seems louder? What position are the +4/-10 line level switches for those input pairs in? Try switching them.

Channel 1&2 rear inputs are line level and the same as not engaging the "mic" button for 3&4 and using the 1/4" TRS inputs. Just make sure you are not goign into the front panel 1/4" TRS/combo DI input wit a line level signal.

And are 3&4 both reduced or just 3 or just 4? (if both that points to the line level calibration push switches).

And I think (hope) the drum machine has balanced output on 1/4" TRS connecors... if so you should ideally be using 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TRS cables (ideally not TS cables). Make sure you have the 1/4" TRS plugs pushed fully in, try wiggling them. If you have one side of a balanced connection not make contact the signal level will be reduced.
