how do I disable a raid 0 config
I'm on a core 2 duo Dell 390
I have one operating sys drive seperate from 2 drive that are bound together by Raid 0 I have upgraded to 8.03 only to find out that I cannot make my raid drive a 'R'ecord drive...I have searched and found that many have had the same trouble here that I am experiencing over the years for one reason or another I have followed several suggestions and now am intending to disable my Raid 0 so does anyone have a helpful step by step guide to share with me I'm on Vista Ultimate Thanks in advance for your help |

Re: how do I disable a raid 0 config
Let us hope that someone else can add to this, but If your system was built with the drives formatted as RAID they will have to be reformatted.

Re: how do I disable a raid 0 config
Hi - I cleared off the raid drives and reformatted (just to try to get to a clean state - no luck
now what I did do was uninstall 8.03 and then reinstall 8 this allows me to change my drives in the workspace and record onto my Raid 0 drives still I'd like to, progress as PT LE allows - so I'd still like to get rid to the Raid 0 config on my system I simply don't know how to accomplish this I'm currently in China attempting to do this by myself - now there's a challenge Cheers S |

Quote:
This should show you a graphical representation of all of your drives. If you right click on the drive in question, it will give you a list of options. One of those options should be "Delete Partition". If you carry this out ( you may have to reboot) what you will have now is two discreet drives instead of the Raid Drive, Now you can do a quick format on each, and relabel the drives with what ever letter you wish to name them. Again, this is how you would do this in XP, but I'm pretty sure Vista's Computer Management panel is the same. HTH and Good Luck

Re: how do I disable a raid 0 config
I could be wrong, but I would look thru BIOS for disabling RAID.

Re: how do I disable a raid 0 config
You're right, if it is a hardware RAID. A large number of Microsoft machines use software RAIDs, so it would depend on which configuration the computer uses. Thanks for pointing that out.

Re: how do I disable a raid 0 config
If you can, take a look at two things:
1) Your bios settings. Look carefully though your settings. If RAID settings are there, I would work with that. You have a hardware RAID. (I have a hardware raid that is on a separate card from the MOBO. It's a RAID 1 and I use it for backups 2) At this point in time, there would be no penalty if you back up your computer configuration first. If there is a disaster, you can recover from it.
