Default rack case for 11r

I'm lookin for a 4U rack for my 11r and I'm wondering what you guys would recommend.

SKB19-4U <--- 19" front rail to back lid
SKB-R4 <--- 19.88" front rail to back lid

Gator GR-4S <--- shallow, 14.75" front rail to back lid
Gator GR-4L <--- full depth, 19" front rail to back lid

or any others. Basically whatever has worked for you and would buy again.

I have the gator 2 U rack case for my 11 rack. This one to be exact.

It's cheap and protects my 11 rack pretty well. The latches on it feel pretty cheap but have hold up so far and I transport it once every week(plus I can get others at the hardware store when/if they break).

I was actually surprised about the extra space in the back and surrounding the 11 rack. I always thought that racks would be a real snug fit but there's actually some space surrounding the rack (it is locked in there though!) and also in the back. I let my XLR cables sit in the case (I've got real short ones so I coil them up and attach them to a velcro band I've stuck inside the case)

I don't know what else you're gonna place inside your rack but just check the measurements of the equipment and take a little bit extra just in case. Also: if you're gonna use a tube poweramp it might be best to get a space extra so you can give it a little extra space so things don't heat up so much!

A tip when you get one: place some kind of sticker or something on it so you can recognise your rack. It sucks turning up somewhere where everyone has the same rack and you got to remember which one is yours! I've got 2 fluorescent stickers with my name on mine for instance....

I use a Gator 3U shallow case for mine (1U ADA MT-200 power amp), and it all fits quite nicely. I suppose that given a choice I'd rather have an extra inch and a half, 'cos I keep my power/speaker/MIDI cables hooked up at the back when I pack it away, but I can certainly live with it.

Thus far I have used Carvin Road Warrior cases. Great price and solidly built. They are a little heavier but are worth it.

I already have a 2 space Gator rack bag but a while ago I go a Furman power conditioner to protect everything. With the extra space of the 4U rack I can store all my cables that would normally fit in the zippered compartment.

Gator 4ru = best. For me anyway. All I have used is gator CASES and they have never let me down. Solid, practical and road tough. Just my opinion

I just use a 3-space rack bag. Cables in the outer pouch during transit. All of the connections that I use (including power) come out of the front thanks to a breakout panel that fills the third space.

Not to take it too far off topic, but can the posters with the Gator bags comment on what size is still acceptable for airplane carry on? Not sure if anyone would know but worth a shot?

I'd like a rack bag I can fit as carry on. I don't trust checking it in. 4space would be better than 2, but I'll go smaller if the 4 is too big to check.
