Default Plug-ins/PT 2019 (2020) Installation Question

Hello good people,

I hope you are all keeping healthy and safe.

I recently bought a new mac system that came with Catalina 10.15.3, which is not qualified for PT 2019 yet. As soon as they release a compliant version, I'm planning to buy it and install it.

However, I also have a number of other plug-ins that I'd like to install on the system (I also use Logic) and since we're all stuck at home waiting, I figured it's a good time to do so.

My question that I cannot seem to find the answer for is this: If I install 3rd party plug-ins, such as iZoptope or Waves etc., before I install Pro Tools, will Pro Tools see those plug ins when I install it (assuming I elect to install the AAX versions)? Or should I hold off and install Pro Tools before installing any 3rd party plug-ins?

I'm just itching to get started because I have lots of time suddenly. But don't want to have to create a mess if I can avoid it by simply waiting to install Pro Tools before the plug-ins.

Thank you in advance for your help with this. Stay healthy, folks!

Hi, welcome to the community.

PT 2019.12 is working on Catalina and PT 2020.x should be right around the corner, just go for it.

Yes you can install plugins first, PT install won't overwrite them.

I did the update by mistake but didn't find any problems with this OS version.

Thanks for the responses. Much appreciated. In case someone can clarify - will Pro Tools see the pre-installed plug-ins?

I'm just trying to keep the install as clean as possible to keep the computer working as nicely as possible.

Thanks again!

Applications support-avid-audio-plugins path location to check.
Just keep your installers until all setup.
Not to messy at all.
Also if you use ProTools at work then:
