Used files in session I want to change outside in an editor - Error
Imagine you work in an noisy train on a speech recording and cutting from 1h to short 10minutes. a lot of crossfades. but everything is now fine.
now back in the studio I hear clicks and pops from the audience. Because I am lazy and so I use computers I open the whole 1h file in Wavelab for sonnox denoise/declick, leaving all the same (just without noise) and overwrite the file. Because PT should think, it's the same - just denoised. Unfortunately PT don't like this and leave all my objects and crossfades without content. How can I force PT to eat what it's get, to ignore a change in File ID or whatever happens. PT has to work for me, not the way around |

Re: Used files in session I want to change outside in an editor - Error
I would have consolidated the track and then imported the denoised track to new playlist

Re: Used files in session I want to change outside in an editor - Error
(that is, if you don't have that plugin as AAX version...)

Re: Used files in session I want to change outside in an editor - Error
when you open your sessoin and get the relink window, select manually find and relink. Point it to your audio files folder, and search by name only (assuming you didn't change the name of the file). and it should find it and let you relink.

That too, but what I do is (for single file) much quicker... WFIW :)

Quote:
That's why I am asking how to change file content on the fly. I can do an update: I am in a sounddesign session (huge!) for a 80min movie and found an atmo which has to many clicks. I don't want to close the session. I want to just change to Finder, right click on that atmo-file, open with wavelab, throw in my Sonnox (they are only VST @JFreak), process, save, quit and go back to ProTools. My laziness tells me that Protools should just go on with that changed file - the change is only in the file, not the name whatever. Well, but that's my problem with 12.5 that I get a crazy error when zooming in: the waveform is suddenly a crap and I get a error message. And if I don't zoom in, everything works as expected. Buuuug! |

Why's that? Some special license? Mine come with all formats...

Re: Used files in session I want to change outside in an editor - Error
Maybe in later version they had it for AAX. Here it's WL7.

Though it's only AAX-native, but still...

Re: Used files in session I want to change outside in an editor - Error
maybe try recalculating the waveform for the affected file? Maybe it's just an error with the visual since it's different than what it is expecting to see?
