Hi Jeff, wondering if you can help out here. Over on a Gearslutz thread someone was mentioning that they weren't able to run HW inserts with the analog I/O. They don't go into details and I'm guessing its an operator error. Sounds odd that that wouldn't be possible. Can you comment on whether, say the second bank of 8 I/O could used just like an Avid HD I/O for HW Inserts? Would there be any kind of issues with latency? I could only assume it would be same or better than the Avid HD I/O which were almost sample accurate.

Greetings,

Absolutely not a problem running hardware inserts. I was just helping a customer this morning set it up. He was actually using 2 MTRX Studio units for a total of 32 channels of hardware inserts since his monitoring needs were simple - stereo mains (TRS) and a few sets of headphone mixes.

For each set of 16, patches would be created in the DADman matrix to connect AD -> DigiLink then DigiLink ->DA, in his case, those same patches are duplicated on the dual matrix represented and managed simultaneously inside of DADman.

Then in Pro Tools, you would simply create stereo or mono (or stereo with mono subpaths) for all of your Inserts on the hardware inserts tab of IO Setup. The round trip is ~ 1ms which is completely in line with the latency on the HD IO. The only difference between HD IO and MTRX Studio with this workflow is the requirement to manually populate the hardware insert delay field.

Hey Jeff,

Weird question but I've looked all around. It there a manual for the DADman software. I seem to have everything set up with my Audinate Dante Virtual Soundcard. I routed everything correctly. Everything seems locked. It see's the MTRX and ProTools see's the DVSC. My issue has to be in the DADman. I imported default setups but I'm still not seeing any signal. I think there is just something simple I'm missing in the DADMan setup. I can provide more specific details if you can help with this. Thank you.

Greetings. Happy to help. I presume you made a patch in Dante Controller to connect the DVS channels to the MTRX which is a Receiver, yes?

Let me know what else you’ve got and we will get it sorted.

best,

Jeff

I'm trying to select Dante 3-8 as 5.1 outputs.

So again, I'm not entirely sure how to completely setup the DADMon and I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong in that but I'm really not sure. I don't know what the MTRX Studio page is doing in the Monitor section. Also, as you'll see below, there is something I am doing in these settings that is wiping out my Dante 3-8 so that is definitely part of the problem. I just don't know what it is...

Christoper's Mac Pro is the transmitter which needs to be patched to the MTRX Receiver - which from your picture does not look correct. Can you expand the view (top) Christopher's Mac Pro into (bottom) MTRX? Thanks.
