Default Low-Latency Input Buffer

Can some tell me how this works? Is there an input buffer setting somewhere?

The hardware buffer size you choose in playback engine setup dialog determines that.

I thought there were two buffer settings in Pro Tools 11. One for playback as you mentioned and one for the recording input. "Low-Latency Input Buffer"

Let me try and be a little clearer. This was supposed to be one of the new features in Pro Tools 11 HD. As advertized. "Pro Tools 11 introduces a low-latency input buffer, which ensures low latency when recording without sacrificing plug-in performance." How does this work and were are the settings for the input buffer?

Playback buffer size is automatically set depending on the sample rate and is not user configurable. (for e.g. it is 1k @ 48k)

your input/record buffer is determined by playback engine setting. the playback buffer is determined by your sample rate. 44.1/48k playback track with 1024 buffer...88.1/96k at 2048. can't remember if 192 is at 2048 or 4096. i'm sure Bharath will chime back in with the facts if i missed 'em...

From experimentation it seems it sets itself automagically. Though its a little more disappointing than you would have expected from all the advertising.

I haven't seen a very big difference from what it used to be other than the overall performance enhancements.

How is this new feature different from the way Pro Tools 10 Performs this? I thought (for Example) you could set the HW buffer to 1024 Samples for playback of Vi plugin etc. and still achieve low latency on the track recording. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what this new feature does.
