Looking to buy a good studio guitar amp... help..
hey guys, This is going out to the guitarists of the forums. I curently have plenty of Clean guitar amps(vintage fenders... like 5 of them). I now need a "dirty" amp... one with a really good distortion that is sit well in a rock bands mix. I've asked a few freinds and most say Marshall or Mesa Boogie... Since its only for the studio i think i can get away with just getting a 1x12... Any thoughts? I was also thinking of getting a nice pedal to put into one of my fenders to get a good sound..
So, if you could suggest either a nice amp that has great distortion for recording that woudl be great... and also... if you can suggest a great distortion pedel/board to plug into one of my fenders aswell taht would be awesome. Thanks. Jonny

Re: Looking to buy a good studio guitar amp... hel
Native Insturments Guitar Rig
and/or Get a Real Mesa, Soldano, or Marshall Mode-Four. Specifically the Mesa Road King,(if you can find the combo version that is your best bet) as it far out preforms the Dual / Triple Recto. Easily the most versatile Amp I have heard with some ingineuity(sp). Don't waste your cash on the Rectifier Recording Preamp. It is a one trick pony tone wise, and only useful if you want the Dual Rectifier Sound on every recording you do. You can do far better in my not always humble opinion. |

Re: Looking to buy a good studio guitar amp... hel
I have NI Guitar Rig and Amplitube... I've gotten sounds on both of them that I am happy with and Guitar rig is very nice... but i want a really nice dirt amp becasue i know guitarists like to use them.. and if i can get something that makes them happy i'll be that much better off. I'm not too into a pre-amp becaue in my mind.. i have that kinda thing already with amplitube and guitar rig... i need either a nice amp that isnt too expensive.. like a 1x12 amp or something or a nice effects pedal/board to run into one of my vintage fenders. Thanks
Jonny P.S. Guitar players speak up!

I just pucked up a Bogner Shiva 1x12. It sounds amazing. THey arent cheap though but I assure you i will add a little value to your studio setup. You can get on off EBAY for around $1500.

Re: Looking to buy a good studio guitar amp... help..
man, if you aren't looking for a stack I would suggest a Fender Blues Jr. with the Celestion speaker in there instead of the standard one. The amp doesn't look that impressive at first glance, but believe me man with a good distortion pedal it is a secret weapon and very versatile for just about anything I've thrown at one. They are only $349 I believe also which is dirt cheap. Other than that I would suggest the Mesa for going totally dirty, but you're getting into the $800-$1500 range depending on what you score man. goodluck

Re: Looking to buy a good studio guitar amp... hel
well heres my current amp/instument list.. im not looking to impove the "value" of my studio seeing that its worth about 20k+ if i include all my mics baord amps and outboard... hell.. my guitars and bass are probabyl worth that much before the studio equipment even comes in... but anyways.. hears my instrument and amp list.
Instuments Fender Telecaster (Vintage) Gibson Les Paul Gold Artisian (Vintage) Gibson Les Paul Studio Jazz (Vintage) Acoustic Martin 3-back Acoustic Mosssman Ibanez Acoustic electric ect... Guitar Amps Fender Twin Reverb | 2x12 Fender Delux Reverb | 1x12 Fender Band Master (head) Fender Tremolux (head) Fender Super Reverb | 4x10 Fender Princeton | 1x10 Fender 2x12 custom cab (2 Celestion 12's in a fender stage cab) RockAmp RockMan | 1x12 RockAmp Mini-Rock | 1x12 Anyways.. as you can see i've got the vintage and clean sound and i need either a nice pedel for my current amps or a new amp for distortion. What do you think??? Jonny
