Default No input on Digi 002R

I've gone through the setup and installation procedures and started a new session in pro tools. I have gone through all the steps of selecting the input channel and gain etc. I can't get any input level from my microphone. I've tried a couple of different mic's but no luck. Anybody have any suggestions.

Pont68,
Just read the "Getting Started with 002R" guide one more time.
Then, visit your I/O setup and click "default" on the input tab, and see if your record enabled track input corresponds to the the input your microphone is plugged in.
Report back here..
good luck,

Stupid question, but have you "Record Enabled" the track?

Is it a mic that requires Phantom Power? Is that on?

Could be any number of things.

-Test your mic and cable with a different device, like a mixer, and make sure they're OK.
-Cable should end in a 3-pin, XLR type connector, also called a Cannon plug.
-If it's a phantom powered mic, you need to depress the white +48v switch on the back panel for the appropriate channel pair.
-The Line/Inst/Mic switch on the front panel for that channel needs to be depressed.
-The gain knob needs to be turned up some.
-Pro Tools should either be in Input Only monitoring mode, or should not be Playing, or should be Recording (Playing while in Auto Input monitoring mode will mute the input of Record-armed channels).
-The track volume in PTLE should be turned up somewhere between -18 and 0 dB.
-Try the other 3 channels. It's remotely possible that the unit is defective.

Yes I have the track record enabled, it's not phantom powered, and the input I'm plugged into matched the input on the mix window. The only sign of input I can get is when I turn the gain all the way up I get a hiss that registers as a signal. I also have mic selected on the front of the unit.

I have it working now and have a signal but it cuts out slightly when I'm speaking into the mic.

Even when I don't use the mic and turn the gain all the way up the hiss cuts in and out.

I tried different channels. I wonder if it has anything to do with my soundcard.
