Longer playlist being made

Longer Playlists being made that contains all the playlists combined in one. Please let me know how to get rid of this. Thanks in advance.

Ok, so when I loop record a selection, I continuously record for quite a while, like 10 minutes or so. Then I stop the recording. Then I right click on the clip, select matching alternates and select expand alternates to new playlists. This expands the different takes to new playlists. But when I do this it also includes the full length recording as well. So that whole 10 min clip will be expanded into a new playlist too, along with the different takes. I would like this to stop happening because it's a pain to clean up. Thanks again for the help.

Post a screenshot of this. It’s still hard to understand what is happening. If you recorded 10mins extra, then Pro Tools is going to show those 10mins. That’s up to the user — ProTools isn’t going to guess you don’t want that 10 mins.
That’s what I understood from your post but that may not be what you meant.

That’s what I understood from your post but that may not be what you meant.

Here are a couple of screenshots, I figured out it doesn't happen when I enable in preferences -> operations -> recording -> create new playlists when loop recording, so It's not a pressing matter, pretty weird though.

It's a little hard to read the clip names due to the image size, but that's the way it is supposed to work. It is showing the complete files that match. You just happen to have one that is longer. Up to the user to edit. Pro Tools isn't doing an edit for your selection length because it has no idea what the user wants to do next (the desirable part could be further in the clip.) It's just matching every file that starts on that timecode and belongs to that track.

It's also not on your main/target playlist so I don't know why you'd worry about cleaning it up. Only comp/edit the good parts to the main playlist and let the alt playlists stay hidden.
