Anyone want to take a stab at why my MIDI ports keep disappearing in the MIDI Studio?
I have my CM Labs Motormix Control Surface hooked directly into the IN and OUT of my Digi 002. I also have a MOTU Midi Express hooked up through USB, to which is also connected to PT via another MIDI in.
Every once in a while, Pro-Tools sends me an ALERT stating that it lost control with the Motormix, and to check the MIDI Setup (MIDI Studio). In PERIPHIALS, everything is setup right, but when I go to observe the MIDI connections in MIDI STUDIO, it SOMETIMES doesn't give me DIGI 002 IN and DIGI 002 OUT as an option, only the MOTU INs and OUTs will appear at times. Pretty odd . . . Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. By the way, I'm using Pro-Tools 7.4 on a Quad Core.

Just make sure that the MMERefresh service is running, and that it is setup to run when Windows starts. That is what runs the MIDI I/O on Digidesign devices, and is usually the cause of "lost MIDI ports" on LE interfaces.
