Default 2gb,check! firewire audio drive, check! samples.... bump!!

hi guys,

i have spent some time upgrading my iMac c2d 2.16 to be more efficient and less DAE-error plagued.

so here goes... bought 2gb ram, great thing to do. bought 500gb external drive with oxford 911.

my Questions are can i

Aartition off 70-80gigs from external drive for my itunes library? without it hurting PT? and

B: can i buy a cheaper usb 2 drive for my samples and samplecontent of my romplers(including reason factory, orchestra and some refills?) doesn't it make sense seperate those from system drive too?

any help appreciated...

stay tuned,
marcus b

P.S. i never use PT and iTunes at the same time...

a) yes that's fine, if you really want to. do you not have the space on your internal drive for the itunes library? that's the best place for it.

b) don't do it. USB2 drives and PT on Macs don't get along a majority of the time (and are not compatible per Digi), best to stick to firewire 911/922 drives.

ok shady thanks,

A:well part of it is because i have 2 users, music and office, and i cant see iTunes lib. in my office account so i thought by making a partition i'll always see the library in either account..

B: thought for samples which are loaded and not streamed like audio tracks it'll be good enough... ah well i save up for another one then....

but in principle its better to have samples away from the system, right?

stay tuned,
m
