Default Mbox 6.2.2 and G5 Panther 10.3.2 - almost all good

OK. So, I'm not really new to this board since I was using Mbox 5.2.2 on my Power Mac G4. I didn't have any problems then and after getting my new G5 I wasn't sure Pro Tools and my new G5 would get along after reading some of this posts. But, I did my research as most intelligent people would (lol) and I'm up and running on the new G5.

Almost everything is OK... with the exception of:

1) I ran into the -9036 error, but quickly realized I had left my Norton AntiVirus program on... and quickly fixed that.

2) I noticed the USB light on my Mbox doesn't light up automatically when I boot up. I have to start Pro Tools in order for it to work. It kind of freaked me out at first thinking there was something wrong with my new USB PCI card. Hopefully, that will get fixed in the future. But it seems to work fine now.

last and not least - and possibly my only problem so far. If anyone has any suggestions, all are welcome.

3) I cannot get the sound from my computer to go through the Mbox. Digidesign HW is checked and all, but it still comes out of the computer speakers. Not a big problem I know, but at least one at that.

Thanks for reading my short novel.

#2 is normal. When PT software is activated on a new boot the USB turns on during PT startup.

#3 what sound are you trying to hear? System sounds will not play through the Mbox but others should as long as PT isn't running.

Download the digidesign coredriver, and choose the mbox as soundcard in the system setup! Then you should be able to use the mbox as your general soundcard!

It's weird. I realized that lots of programs DO PLAY through mBox. Only system sounds and Web Browser (Safari) don't. So far.

I'll try downloading the coredriver. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll check in later today.

OK. I read the following when I was about to download the coredriver.

"Version 6.2.2 of the Digidesign CoreAudio Driver added the following:

"Support for Pro Tools 6.2.2 TDM and LE systems on Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther)

Note: This version 6.2.2 of the CoreAudio Driver is only available as part of the Pro Tools 6.2.2 installer process. Not available from this download page.

There is no separate standalone version of the Digidesign CoreAudio Driver yet available for OS X 10.3.x (Panther). A standalone version for Panther is expected in early Q1, 2004"

I guess I don't need to update the CoreAudio Driver afterall.

i'm not sure, but i think its still true that PT 6.2.2 has only been tested and approved for OS X 10.3.1. I set up my mbox about a month ago running 10.3.0 and 6.2.2. I had a few very strange problems and called digi support and was told to upgrade only to 10.3.1, even though 10.3.2 was already available. So I did that and have not had any problems so far. I can actually run more plugs now as well. I see alot of peole on the DUC that run on 10.3.2 so maybe it doesn't matter anyway, but it did help my system.

Sup Mike!

I actually had an iMac. I just sold it too. lol - I never had problems with that thing. I must say though. Never installed Pro Tools on it either.

So, apart from the very minor problems, which I'm sure will be fixed when DigiDesign finishes Phase III... I LOVE MY G5.
Now, if ONLY I HAD A GSixxx

lol
