Default Template Trouble

I'm having a problem using Templates with PTLE. If I create a template session in my ProTools folder, when I create a new session based on the template and save it to another drive, PT creates the Audio Files folder in the location of the original template - in the PT Folder and not in the new location.

My system - B&W G3/350/OS 9.2.2 PTLE 5,2,1/Mbox

I also have a friend who is having a similar problem. He's using PT Free and what happens in his situation is that the session gets created, Audio Files folder and all, on the new drive, but the audio actually gets recorded in a duplicate session folder that gets created in the root of his Macintosh HD. His system - Beige G3/300/OS 9.2.2 PT Free

When you open a template you should be asked if you are creating a new session or editing the template. If it's a new session, like usual, you name the session, choose parameters, and choose the location. Are you telling PT to put the new song in the right place or are you getting any of the prompts I mentioned before?

Hi mars,

This was happening to a friend. Turns out the template had corrupted. The fix was to make a new one. If/when you do create a new template, confirm in Setups/Disk Allocation that "make subfolders, etc." is checked. Confirm the Drive you are recording to is in the top read out area. If it is incorrect click the up/down arrows to the right and set it to the proper drive. PT, as a default should keep the audio files with the project file from then on.

Hope this helps,

MR
