Default Smux

Trying to connect 2 M-Audio Profire 2626s together to get 16 channels at 88/96. I've read its possible but cant seem to get Pro Tools 9 to see anything over 12 channels when running a session at 88 or 96. Using Windows 7 and PT9.
I have all 4 toslink cables connected. In the control panel mixer I can see its picking up channels 13-16 but in Pro Tools 9 it wont accept a signal after 12.
I'm pretty sure i have everything set up correctly to the best of my knowledge. Any ideas?

Are you able to get all 16 at 44.1? I don't think PT has changed regarding the inability to recognize SMUX.

Yes I can get 16 at 44 and 48. I knew pro tools le/m powered couldn't do it but I swore I read that pt9 changed that. Can anyone confirm this?

First all I'm not all that familiar with the 2626. Whether a device supports SMUX vs ADAT is typically determined by hardware.

SMUX uses twice the bandwidth. E.G. my Presonus FireStudio Light Pipe supports 44/48/88/96 and 32 channels. But.... It only supports 16 channels at the higher sample rates. Its a hardware limit.

the 2626 has 2 ADAT ins and outs, 16 @ 44.1/48, or 8 @ 88.2/96. I assume he wants to use the 8 pres that are connected to the computer, and use the other 8 at high sample rates on the other 2626.

Yes, normally i just record at 48 khz but some clients request higher sample rates. When using the two profires together at higher sample rates you should be able to send 4 channels through ADAT A and the other 4 channels through ADAT B, plus the 8 analog inputs. I can achieve this in the hardware no problem, its Pro Tools thats not seeing it. In the 2626's control panel, i can monitor all 16 inputs and hook up a mic to them to test, and i get the full 16 at 88 and 96 khz, but Pro Tools is only seeing the first twelve. 8 Analog, and 4 from ADAT A. It won't access ADAT B's last 4 channels.

Flying blind here but have you gone into the IO tab in Setup and reset all of the inputs and Out puts and busses to thier defaults? yopu may need to do that to "See" the additional tracks.

I reset the ins/outs and still nothing. Either way, they showed the inputs listed, it's just when arm recording a track with a channel set to 13-16 it acts as if there is no audio but I clearly see it coming through the profires dsp mixer. I guess pro tools just doesn't support this.
