PT 2024.3.0 - Unwanted Falcon 2 crashes PT

I’m trying to load ProTools 2024.3.0 to my Apple MacBook Pro (2017) running OS Ventura 13.6.5.

I keep getting a message that I need to activate Falcon 2.aax. If I try to load PT without activating Falcon 2, PT quits the installation.

Any idea how I can avoid a Falcon 2 installation/subscription so I may load and use ProTools 2024.3.0?

Move the Falcon plugin into the unused plugin folder.

When I started the new Pro Tools version, and it scanned all my plug-ins, it threw a message saying that it had found non-activated, ILok protected plug-ins. I then selected to activate falcon and in the following dialogue canceled. At that point Pro Tools asked if I wanted to move it into the unused plug-in folder. I said yes and that took care of it

It must be finding Falcon installed. Shortcut is to remove it from the Plugins folder.

Better way is to uninstall it. Do you remember which method you used to install it in the first place?

I don't recall how I installed Falcon. It was quite a while ago and I never used it except when I initially saw it and listened to some of the sounds.

We have heard from 2024.3 peeps that they are crashing or freezing on launch and we believe that a significant number of these failures are likely related to plugins and specifically the plugin caching changes with this release.

In order to triage these issues, and help you to the fastest possible resolution, please make it a default request to always obtain Pro Tools crash reports and logs for any crash situation. Please use the following KB articles as a guide on how to collect these important files:

When I first started 2024.3, I got a message that Pro Tools had found plug-ins that were iLok protected but not activated.

I chose to activate falcon which was the first one, and then canceled. At that point the dialogue asked if I wanted to put the plug-in into the unused folder. I said yes and things continued normally.

You could just move the falcon plug-in into the unused plug-in folder as well and you should be good to go.

Thanks so much to all those who offered suggestions and solutions, especially Marianna. I'm working on learning how to submit "crash reports" and the rest.

I played with various paths today, and ended up backing down to 2023.9 which seems to have restored normal PT function... so far...!

Since I've never had any trouble with PT, I probably jumped the gun with 2024.3 simply because I've never had any problems with PT.

I look forward to 2024.3 when I can get it to work for me.
