Cut rhythm tracks (dr, bass, el gtr) here recently while also recording midi piano. As we were cutting all seemed fine but on playback pno was close to 40 ms ahead of the grid lines (yeah, I sometimes rush, but that ain't it).
Now I find that as I try to record midi to audio tracks on various sessions, the same thing is happening - midi info shows up almost 40 ms ahead. It's the same whether delay comp is turned on or off. Trashed prefs etc. already with the pref and database helper sharewary program. Read a bit in the manual and did some duc pond searching, but if the answer was there it didn't stick. Thanks for any ideas. Disclaimer: I am a producer/arranger/keyboardist by nature and an engineer by default. I did hire an engineer for the rhy session, but he doesn't know what the dang deal is. Are you sure the grid is not set to one of the other rulers rather than Bar | Beat? I can't tell you how many times I've looked at the grid and said, "wait I didn't play that bad" and then noticed the grid was min : sec. So does it sound okay, but not look right? Or is it sounding rushed, as well as visually ahead of the grid?

Yeah, I've been down that road, but no, I'm in grid, and it is consistently 40-ish ms ahead of the beat for the entire length of the session.

Just a guess, is any +/- compensation set for MIDI Beat Clock or MIDI Sync? (Setups>MIDI>)

Do you possibly have any plug-ins on the Master Fader?

As per Steve@ZooWest's post; "It's the same whether delay comp is turned on or off."

I just created a session with nothing except a midi track, an aux for Ivory, and a click track, and it's still 40 ms delay.
FYI Input Quantize is not enabled and there is no offset selected in that dialogue. |

Thanks O.G., but they are not checked in the IO setup.
