Default Clean Install/Migrating from 6,1 to 7,1

Looking for suggestions on the best way to move from 6,1 (Mojave) to 7,1.
I'm still getting error -9173 with 2020.3 and do not want that to happen on my new MacPro.
What's your recommendation?
Safest way to (re)introduce existing plugins?
Any tip is truly appreciated. Thanks!

Obviously the only real clean install is the one you do manually. Download all the current plugin installers and install everything one by one. Takes time but well worth it. My clean install took half a week from start to finish, but wow this system is snappy and trouble-free

Thanks for the feedback!
So I have tons of plugins! Deactivating and reauthorizing, etc. will be time consuming, for sure. If it's the only way, then that's what I'll do.

All my plugins are 64 bit. When all are eventually reinstalled but some do not have/can't find the installers, how do you "filter" out the offensive ones if -9173 reappers? Do you restart PT and and test, restart and test, etc.?

You only need to deactivate non-ilok plugins, obviously what you have in the key now stays there regardless of your system update. But sure, make a list of what you need to auth later and be sure you have the serials available.

Whenever you suspect you have a badly behaving plugin in your system, best to move all 3rd party plugins to unused folder and test that PT itself runs well. Then move one plugin vendor back and test again. You should eventually get those errors back, in which case you have a pretty good guess of which vendor you have problem with.

Is it safe to keep adding, test and add while PT is open or close/restart each time?

You cannot add plugins to the system while PT is open. PT loads plugins into memory when you start it, and that is why a bad plugin can crash PT even if you didn't use it in your session.

So yes, you need to close PT, add or remove plugins, start PT again. There is no other way.
