Keyboard Focus Not working occasionally in PT 8? Anyone else?

Sometimes using the key command to turn Commands Keyboard Focus on (opt-cmnd-1) doesn't work. I haven't been able track down when it doesn't, like if something is in the foreground.

I know how to toggle between the 3 windows with Keyboard focus, but sometimes it just doesn't work properly.

Anyone experience this or have ideas on when it wouldn't work?

Yeah, I've had 1 or 2 mini battles with Keyboard focus, and Tab To Transients... But they seem to have worked themselves out, without me being able to define any repeatable steps.

I've seen keyboard focus become non-functional several times. At first I though I had hit some mystery key command, but I could never find my way out of it. Rebooting PT always fixes it.

That makes it a bug.

apple-tab to finder, and then back seems to cure it.

Well in the world of Bug's - what Makes it "a bug that can be investigated and fixed", is a guaranteed step, to re-produce the bug. I've discovered, reduced to minimal repeatable steps, verified, and reported several "Bugs" which have been logged by Digi - "As soon as they can repeat the steps in house"

there are several "Known bugs" out there, like our IDENTICAL CRASH THREAD

That Tons of users are experiencing, but no one can reproduce it... so this, to the list, of likely "Random Bug's" that are even more annoying, cause they may not be able to be "Reproduced" therefore live a whole lot longer then the reproducible bug.

Do you have any third party Mouse/Keyboard apps (like mouseworks) remove these and see what happens. I keep a virgin user called Test that I use to see if the bug is user specific, that is worth a try as well. Also back up your internal boot drive (which you should have done anyway) create a clean OS X boot drive on a FW drive and install tools with only the Digi Plugs and see if that works better for you, then add the other plugs and see what happens and see if the problem persists.

I had this happen the other day while editing MIDI.. quit and restart Pro Tools fixed it.

I have had it happen regularly as well.
Swapping between Mix and Edit window buttons a few times on my Command 8 seems to do the trick when it doesn't respond.
Can't even click the a-z buttons on any window.

Good Find, Sean Russell. I had this happen to me when I opened a session I had begun in HD, moved to an MBox to do remote tracking, then brought back into HD.

On opening the session again in HD, no keyboard focus, but your "Tab out" fix worked! Thank you...
