Default PTLE 8.0 sucking the life out of me

I worked with Pro Tools LE & HD at school and loved both. Just bought an mbox pro and it came with 7.4 so I put the dvd in and downloaded it, then before running, saw my 8.0 update email and installed it. I have not been able to play a damn thing since! Called the retailer (Sweetwater) and they said I needed to uninstall 7.4 first so I clean uninstalled both 7.4 and 8.0 and reinstalled 8.0 and still cant play a damn thing. Same error also -6085 underflow. No matter what i do with the hw buffer, I get the same -6085 error. Extremely frustrated at this POINT!!!
iMac with 2.8 processor core 2 duo
running 10.5.6
glyph GT050Q drive for audio (tried it on fw800, fw400, usb2.0)
I am running a USB hub for my keyboard and a printer.

I am really, really frustrated at this point, please help, I will also provide any further information you might need.

Go back to 7.4 man. I'm running a tested and true PC with 7.4 and as soon as I put 8.0 on it I started getting all types of errors that I couldn't find any answers for. I love the new features and look of 8.0 but I don't have time to Fu3k around with different errors all day. Time is money ya know? I'll wait for them to work on it a bit before I reinstall it.

Are you aware that 10.5.6 is not supported? Any chance you would be willing to do a complete Clean "Erase and Install" of OSX and start from scratch. I could nearly guarantee you that you would be up and running again if so... I'm positive it is something with your machine and not PT8. Otherwise everyone would be having your problems...

Also just FYI, Mbox2 Pro is totally incompatible with any FW800 devices, so don't use them at all. They WILL cause all kinds of errors and you can't even have a FW800 device connected anywhere on the machine while Mbox2 Pro is connected, it's a known limitation.

Turn off airport and bluetooth up by the clock in top right of screen while using Pro Tools. Time machine off and filevault off, energy saver set to never turn on and uncheck the box allow hard drivers to sleep when possible in energy preference window.
Turn off the printer and disconnect any extra peripherals until you figure out what is going wrong.

Repair disk permissions using Disk Utility.
Don't use the AC cable for Mbox2 Pro, it should get power over its FW cable and you should see a solid orange light.

I bet you its the FW800 drive or airport wireless or bluetooth being on causing those errors, those are the most common anyways.

Going back to 7.4 might not solve anything unless it's a software corruption problem. If you're still getting those errors after my suggestions run the uninstaller app, choose clean uninstall and then reinstall PT 8 one more time. Zap PRAM and reset SMC as last options. You can Google how to do those.

I think the -6000's are firewire or harddrive issues. Hopefully someone from Digi will chime in for you. As stated above, if your using the fw800, it won't work. Try hooking the Mbox up to the fw400. Test recording on your internal drive if you don't have a port left for the HD.

Here's the odd thing. On my MacPro, I had to do a clean install of Leopard and PTLE8. On my MacBookPro, I forgot to uninstall 7.4 and installed 8 and I had NO problems. Weird!

Just for the record. I'm running PT8 on the same iMac as Tosty (24" 2.8 extreme 4gig ram 003r). Before downloading PT8, I upgraded to Leopard and did the 10.5.5 combo update, uninstalled 7.4, installed 8 and everything is working fine. I had to download the mp3 option to get it working again, and I had to download the MoogerFooger delay and ring modulator to get those working. All other plug-ins (waves, sonalksis, spectronics, NI (Kontakt is weird, but everything else seems fine) seem to be working without hiccups.

Loving the upgrade!
