Default Using Dual Monitors with PT8 Question

I have just installed PT8.

I maximize the application so it covers both of my dual monitors.

I bring up the mixer window and arrange window... I want arrange on the left and mixer on the right.

When I drag the mix window to the right screen and maximize it covers both screens entirely.

I want to be able to drag a window to one of the screens, maximize it, and have it maximize ONLY on that monitor.

I can do it it fine in Sonar on the same computer...

I can obviously drag each window out so it covers the space I want on each monitor but I seem to remember being able to do this soley with maximizing.

Any help is appreciated.

Adam

Yep, you can do it in Sonar; it's a different program and has different capabilities, but not in Pro Tools.

You need to manually resize the child windows (mix/edit) in Pro Tools to fit on each individual screen.

You are remembering incorrectly. Pro Tools does not have this ability unless you are using special window positioning software for your video card, or windows placement software for Pro Tools like Bob Nagy's Skootch.

Well thatz the thing... U don't maximize any of the windows... U stretch the main window as needed across both screens, open ur edti window(not maximized) & place it accordingly then the same for the mix window...Once u get them set the way u want(or after ur done working on that session) press alt+F4 to close PT & then it should remember ur config...

But even better, u can email Bob Nagy who has a app that is made to do this & more(I can't live without it-it's like FRUIT SNACKS for me)

email him @ bobnagy at aol dot com
Purchase that & u won't regret it with dual screens...HERE'S an idea of what it'd look like...

edit:Hey SPK, I guess I was typing to long(was on the phone & tryna type @ once) But Luts(whooaaa, that sounded weird) U get the idea...
