Pro Tools LE 8.0.x & Windows 7
Hello,
I have recently bought a new PC, and have installed Windows 7 on it. I currently only have Pro Tools 8 (I know this is a 'legacy' version, but it's what I've got so I'll have to work with it - I also have some legacy H/W which I cannot afford to replace right now). I've installed Pro Tools 8.0.0 from the CD which came with the M-Box fine, and when I go to the check for updates option PT advises me of a critical update and links me to a site to download 8.0.1, this site no longer exists. I have tried fruitlessly for about 2 hours to update to 8.0.5, via the download available from the following link: http://secure.digidesign.com/service...&localeCode=en This downloads an 'updater' to the system, which after a bit of searching I found I should "run as Admin". However, there's nothing in the folder I can run. I have a Setup.DDL file, a few Cabinet Files, an ISSetup.DDL a Setup Application and config settings, a setup.inx and setup.iss. Can anyone help me out where I am going wrong? I am sure I have downloaded the correct version of the updater. And yes I have tried to double click on each of the items in the folder, and they either do nothing, or ask which program Windows should use to open the file. Any help greatly appreciated. Additionally, what is the latest version of Pro Tools that I could use with a Digi Design 002 Rack and M-Box 2 in case I am able to upgrade the software at a later date. Thanks Simon ----- Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit Intel i5 16GB RAM 240GB Intel SSD 3TB + 2 TB Western Digital Green M-Box 2 Digi Design 002 Rack Pro Tools LE 8 |

Re: Pro Tools LE 8.0.x & Windows 7
I know this thread is a couple of months old but this may help. You need the 8.0.3 update first, and then update that with 8.0.5.
I see in your signature the word "Green". You should not use green drives with PT because of their power saving features which play havoc with the writing of audio files. Recommended drives are Western Digital Black.

Re: Pro Tools LE 8.0.x & Windows 7
Hey Wizzoboy,
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I managed to get it to work by downloading the installers on another machine. The Green drives are for backup storage, anything I'm working on goes on the SSD. |
