Default Re: Will Pro Tools 10 be supported in Mavericks?

As someone previously said ... the more people adopt PT 11 the more Plugins creators will have to adopt the AAX64 format .... After all they did specify that PT 10 was only a transitory phase ... Some chose to adopt and some chose to wait for 11 while running on PT 9 .... don't blame avid ... sooner or later you're gonna have to adopt future versions ...

Not really .... PT 9 had nothing to do with AAX ... PT 9 was the first version to run third party interfaces .... AAX was introduce in PT 10 ....

Money talks.... stocks crash.... is AVID blaming me for their poor stock value ? Why aren't studio's investing in AVID any more ? ....I think we know why ....
Come on.....please don't make this the preachy "Avid sucks they hate their customers look at the control 24/pro control and stock prices they're doomed man" thread. Isn't there enough of that in the Legacy forum? Of course this is an open forum and you can post (pretty much) what you want...I'm just not into this whole Avid hating game. i'm not bitter, just trying to find out some info. Contrary to what most people think, I won't be angry if they dump 10 on Mavericks. I just would like to know one way or the other.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may do something like that. But it's disappointing to me that we have to come up with these insane workarounds.

It's disappointing because it seems like such a short-sighted decision on Avid's part to break their promise of a long PT10/11 transition and not support Mavericks, leaving many long-time users like myself in needlessly difficult positions with their day-to-day work. It's a sneaky and underhanded way of conducting business. And it's really unfortunate.

This problem is like so many one sees these days - the people in decision-making positions in corporations don't have any actual connection or understanding of the products themselves and end up making these MBA-esque, short-sighted decisions that look good on a balance sheet, but are miserable to the actual end-user/customer.

And again, if they'd just come out with some sort of statement, so we at least know where we collectively stand on this question, that would go a long way. I'd rather hear the truth, be able to be mad at them for a bit, and then move on. It would be better than guessing/hoping that maybe they'll do the right thing for the next couple of months, only to prolong the disappointment and pain once I find out, yes, it's true, they're leaving us high and dry.

Come on, Avid. Pull off the band-aid. Let's get this over with. Tell us the truth about PT10 and Mavericks!

FWIW-

I was at NAMM on Thursday and asked one of the reps if they were ever going to support PT10 on Mavericks, and he said 'probably not'.

So there we have it . . .

I'm pissed, but moving on.

Well, thanks for digging and sharing. Very disappointed to hear even that. Sigh. Thanks, people.

That is a sad move, +1 to being disapointed. Guess today I'll start the mission of testing Mavericks on an empty drive, see if I can be one of the lucky few who can get it working with PT10.

Then to contemplate the upgrade, or moving back to steinberg.
