Vocal tips and ttrick and the plug ins to use
Hello my fellow protool users,
I have been viewing the Tips and tricks posted and found it very helpful on several projects. I have tried them all and they definitely come in handy.. Are there any more cool vocal tips anyone would like to share with the masses? Let's keep it growing.. I'll share one... The Reverse reverb - Take a vocal track (not the whole track, just a particular region) add 100% wet using the Audiosuite (AS) plugin, Process it then use the (Reverse) AS plugin to reverse it, then fade it in. this give a very cool effect when leading into the original region. Re: Vocal tips and ttrick and the plug ins to use
OK...I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but here are a couple of things I use to cover the fact that I can't sing very well...a bit anyway.
(Sorry if these are obvious or too elementary) 1. Put Chorus on the vocal. I use the audiosuite thing at about 10-12%. Covers up some of my dodgy intonation and thickens things up a bit. 2. Automate. I ride the fader to cover my dodgy breath control, or getting too close to the mic or something...I don't know. Bring the words on the beats up, bring down the bits where you sang too loud. This has really brought emotion and depth to some vocal takes I had that somehow lacked something. Any use??? Thought not... |

Re: Vocal tips and ttrick and the plug ins to use
Here's one if you've got the patience.
Using the pencil tool to draw the volume fader automation, trace around the lower half of the audio image in the track. Don't worry about the actual volume at this stage, just go along and copy the shape with the pencil tool. When you have finished, select the whole automation line and drag it up to the required volume. The line is now an inverted shape of the top half of the audio image, and will give quite precise fader automation. Saves using too much compression, and keeps the vocal level very even. |
