Default Re: Loud clicks when starting or stopping playback

The Weed, thanks, tried out some new things from that thread, but issues are the same unfortunately.

Fiddled around some more with Sonar, but the issues are still there also. If I press stop in a VI track for example, there's a loud pop. The fade out on stop setting won't mask the pops in tracks with release times on a synth, or effect tails.

Appreciate any more suggestions. Seeing that I have the CPU spike issues in PT as well, maybe some CPU settings are the culprit? Though I have speedstepping, turbo boost and c-states disabled in BIOS. Tried to play with other BIOS settings to no avail.

Tried the Studio One demo as well, I can reproduce this in PT, Sonar and Pro Tools.

It sounds like you may have a problem with your interface or its driver as this problem occurs in more than one DAW. Try disconnecting your interface and use your onboard soundcard to see if the problem persists. This will at least eliminate the interface. which would be a common factor across all the DAWs.

I just tried with ASIO4ALL and PT seems to function a lot better, faster and lag-free. There are still pops when starting/stopping, but I guess a lot of people have that due to stopping playback at a point where there's not zero crossing? But no where near as bad with Crimson. I'm eagerly awaiting response from their support departement.

After trying out a new USB cable I think I'm sorted out.

Wow, that turned out to be a simple solution! Since the problem occurred with multiple DAWs, we should have suspected a hardware issue right off the bat, and changing cables is the easiest place to start.
