Lounge Lizard or Elektrik Piano?
LL-3 is a modelled instrument, while EP is samples, from the realm of Kontakt. There's no playable version of Elektrik Piano, but the demo sounds are pretty good. LL has a demo but it cuts out every 10 seconds. Aaak.
Opinions? I only want plug-ins that as RTAS. |

Re: Lounge Lizard or Elektrik Piano?
I am a huge Native Instrument fan and own Komplete 3. Elektrik Piano sounds great, but for me, even on my Dual 2.7 it glitches and cuts out all over the place. I can run Kontakt 2 all day without a problem, but Elektrik Piano seems buggy. Instead I go for patches in Kontakt or the Electro Mechanical library in Reason.

Re: Lounge Lizard or Elektrik Piano?
I haven't used Elektrik, but I own LL2 and have a couple different Rhodes at the studio. I really like LL2, and for many applications will choose it over the real Rhodes. I really like its flexibility and the sounds are very realistic (or not, if you want -- I especially like making thick, organic pads with it by adjusting the sustain to infinite). And Cranking up the output dirties it up in a lovely way. Compared with sample based instruments, it is faster to use because the patches load almost instantly, and it is very light on DSP. I've run a number of instances without problems, even on a pokey G4 733.

I'm not that wild for the sound in all honesty. I might start runningh more virtual instruments on my HD rig Mac as I've just bought one of the last 2.7 dual PCI-X Macs. That, along with the improved RTAS and virtual instrument implementation in PT7 could change things. PB |

Re: Lounge Lizard or Elektrik Piano?
Hmm. Maybe I should just go buy one since there's not likely to be a consensus. They both sound pretty good, from what I can hear. And until I get my 1972 suitcase repaired, I have no choice. Thanks for your replies, guys.

You know the electric pianos in Xpand! are very nice. Not a huge selection, but very nice, and you can't beat the price (free).
