Chrometone the answer?...
I really like Amplitube for adding some attitude/texture to non-guitar tracks... drums, vocals, bass, etc. But because it is HTDM, it is super buggy and has even made some files corrupt. Add to that, ADC doesn't seem quite right.
SansAmp, while very reliable, isn't quite as interesting to me sonically (a bit brittle and rubbery somehow at the same time), and takes a whole chip on a process card. Outboard is cool (I have SansAmp, Hughes & Kettner, etc.), but of course, no recall. If anyone could do it, McDSP would be the one to come up with a distortion plug that is, versatile, with tasty sounds, stable performance, and not a ridiculous process hog. Can anyone offer their experience with this plug? Thanks, - proxy

Re: Chrometone the answer?...
Did you demo it yet? I've tried it with guitarist a while ago. I cant remember what it sounded like I know we both liked it. They decided to stick with amps so I ended up not buying it.

Re: Chrometone the answer?...
Yeah - I did demo it along with several other things when I was catching up on the new generation of plugs, but I demo-ed a little too many at one time, and didn't focus enough on this one.
Thanks for the Isotope reference... it seems to only be HTDM, which I have found to be uniformly less stable than TDM, so unless someone can chime in that this plug is a noteworthy exception, I don't know that I want to experiment with it. I want to mess with my sounds, not my patience. Or maybe it's time to move to PTv7 for RTAS options. I couldn't find the DSP usage info on McDSPs site... Does anyone know how many ChromeTones you can get on one HD Process card chip? Thanks, - proxy

Re: Chrometone the answer?...
Thanks for the link - exactly what I was looking for.
So, it's a bit better than SansAmp usage, and more potential sound shaping out of it. Thanks again, - proxy
