Audio interface for Foley + Vo
Must outfit our newly built Foley / dubbing studio with an audio interface to be used with PT9.
Can pick up a used 003 rack in good condish for around 600-700. Or buy brand new non digi interface. I require accessible gain pots and mic inputs in the rear of the unit. Have been looking at a MOTU 8pre, but will take while to order and I have never heard one. I am only concerned with the quality difference in preamp and a/d converters. Eventually I will add some extra pres such as sound devices. To get rolling and doing work I need something clean with a nice s/n ratio. I was told the MOTU 8pre is a nicer sounding preamp and converter by several up until today when the shopkeep told me to stay away as its the lowest MOTU model. He was trying to sell me higher end interfaces over 1k which I just don't have left right now. I can only cut about 700. I feel that I can trust an 003, since I have heard it and seen it used in many similar installations. Any advice is greatly appriciated. Thank you!!! |
