PTLE / Mbox forgets Clock Source w/ SPDIF input
So when I have my input set to SPDIF and clock source set to internal, every time I open PTLE 6.4 or CoreAudio 6.7, Mbox clock source switches to spdif even though internal is still selected (getting fuzz though headphones attached to MBox headphone jack and no SPDIF output). Every time I open either application I have to switch the clock source to SPDIF and then back to internal, whereupon the Mbox starts putting out a SPDIF signal. During all of this the Mbox has only a SPDIF cable attached to the output running into a Benchmark DAC-1. If I have my input set to analog, the "internal" clock source is remembered although it gives me the option of selecting SPDIF as a clock source (which I don't think was there until this problem came up).
I am running 10.3.4 on a 900Mhz Ibook and have aleady repaired permissions as well as discarding all prefs for PTLE and CoreAudio. What's going on here? Help... Also, during a recording session the other day my mac crashed for the first time. It was bad. At 108 minutes into the session on the second track the screen greyed out and a black box popped up informing me to restart my computer in four languages. Luckily I was running a backup recorder and didn't lose anything, but it's disconcerting. I can find no good info anywhere. Help... Besides combing apple's site are there other info resources? Thanks. |

Re: PTLE / Mbox forgets Clock Source w/ SPDIF inpu
This is very confusing, but why is your input set to S/PDIF when you only have an output device on S/PDIF?

Re: PTLE / Mbox forgets Clock Source w/ SPDIF inpu
I only ever use SPDIF input from from my Apogee and never analog inputs. When I'm not on location recording I don't have the Apogee plugged in (when I'm at home editing). Then I only use the SPDIF outputs to my Benchmark DAC-1.
I'm kind of worried that PTLE foretting these settings are cracks on the surface that may be signalling some larger (yet unknown) issue... |

Re: PTLE / Mbox forgets Clock Source w/ SPDIF inpu
No, thinking of workaround. How about changing the input after doing the recording, so input isn't set to S/PDIF?
