Sound distortion with Pro tools LE 7.1

Hi, I am new to the forum and and have been experiencing some sound quality issues with Pt 7.1. I upgraded from PT 6.2 to PT 7.1 on my MAC powerbook G4 and for some reason the sound quality has quit a bit distortion when raising the volume levels. I did not have this problem prior to upgrading. Has anyone experienced this problem before? If so what should I do?
