Hard Disk Buffer or Seek Time?
Which is more cruical to PTLE performance? Looks like there are some drives (not the WD, but Seagate and others) where the 2MB buffer offers a bit faster seek time/write speed over the 8MB buffer models. It looks like the Allenstein machine recommends the 8MB versions, and many people here use the 8MB models, but my question is this ... is/has anyone use(d) the 2MB buffer HDD with success? What track counts are you getting? Any marked improvement if changed to the 8MB cache disks?
Thanks! |
