budget Compressor suggestion for Averill 1272?
Compressor suggestion for Averill 1272
Only have $300-400 to spend to get a compressor for tracking to go with my Averill 1272. Meek vc6q (and get the eq) or RNC? I do most mostly rock/pop and love the old neve/trident sounds that my ears have been accustomed to. My concern is if the meek will over color the sound of the Averill 1272. Also, since this budget is limited, can I/would I be best to use the waves renaissance compressor for tracking? Thanks, Giovanni |

Re: budget Compressor suggestion for Averill 1272?
The RNC is stereo and the VC6Q is a mono device only so this could be of importance to you.
I think the RNC is the 'best buy' budget comp/limiter at the moment and I do own both these units. Are you tracking or mixing? Tracking - the VC6Q or the RNC Mixing with stereo subgroups - RNC both will serve you well. |

In that price range definitely go for the RNC. I hear they have a balanced version coming out soon. Otherwise save up for a Distressor.
