Default OT: no video signal on startup

Hey DUC
I posted at the Mac discussions last week - but no responses.
I'm using the MacPro with a Samsung monitor (225bw)
Recently, when I start my cpu, I get no video (black screen). the monitor screen flashes a message (between "analog" and "digital") and then the monitor power light starts flashing (similar to when the monitor is on but the cpu is off)
I assume the monitor is searching for signal. I have to crash the mac.... and usually on the 2nd or 3rd restart attempt, I get video. I've checked the cable connections (seems ok)I also attempted to reset my pram numerous times (but I never heard the second chime - curious)
Any ideas?
bad cable? bad video card? loose video card? (I also recently had airport extreme installed in my cpu, could this be a factor?)
thanks in advance

I don't know if this helps you, but I had a similar problem recently. After taking the Mac Pro home from the studio, I had no video signal. I just opened the MP and tried to move the video card a little and then it worked again. The card seemed to sit firm in its slot, but it still worked to fix the problem like this.

still no luck
I've checked the video card - seems seated securely (I jiggled it)
I've reconnected the cables numerous times
i have to restart my mac 2 or 3 times before I get video signal
I'm confused...
since I am eventually able to get signal, what does that suggest?
any help is greatly appreciated
thanks
